I have been considering a Kistler, Dobyns, and other brands. Just pulled the trigger on a Champion 705c, got a pretty good price on it, couldn't pass it up. It's worth the additional investment. One other thing that played a role for me was the fact Dobyns is less expensive on the replacement cost and since I can do stupid things from time to time this is a nice thing. Does anyone here have personal experience with some of these rods? The difference between each of these 5 powers is a LOT!! Dobyns Champion XP 683 or 684 for all around casting rod? Don't underestimate the 685CB Champion XP, that rig is awesome for jerkbaits, poppers, and 6th Sense Munch 40s, Mini X 25 and Curve Finesse Squarebills, in fact, I wouldn't hesitate to throw a Squarebill 1.5 on it or even a 2.5. The "no give" nature of braid combined with a little forgiveness of the Sierra 734c. The tip on the 4 power at least in the Sierra and Fury line is a little stiffer and on the 3 power is a little slower so you can fish treble hooks as well as weightless soft plastics on that. I just got a 733C F/H and I am very very impressed with the rod. Get one spinning and one casting. I would probably gone with Tatula or Sierra Rods. For a point of reference, you can fish a 5" senko with a 1/8oz weight on both rods, but the 4 power works best with 1/4oz and on the 3 power you can fish it weightless almost as comfortably. If I get the Sierra I can get 2 rods but the second will be around 50 dollars and if I get the fury I can get 2 rods and the second one will be about the same price. Here is what I would do.
